The buildings, subject of our proposal, are set in the vicinity of the river, in an area of mid 19th century industrial expansion, when new land was reclaimed from the Tagus, by means of infill, so as to build new industrial buildings, warehouses, and buildings to associated the activities of the fishing, commercial and leisure ports.

Such buildings, covering an area of 41.868m2, were up to not so long ago, used for industrial purposes and are, by enlarge, very run down. All existing buildings have been the subject of substantial alterations, extensions, and demolitions, as a result of the inevitable evolution which the several industries in question suffered over more than a century of activity.

Our proposal is thus characterized:

To restore the old Bernardo Daupiás & Cª factory, to use it as a service building for the area of Alcântara (building H).

To demolish the remainder of the buildings. The planning process for the partial demolition of these is already underway.

To construct three buildings of 35 storeys each (circa 105 meters high), two of which are destined for residential use (buildings C and D) and the third one for office use (building B)

To construct two four storey buildings which will consolidate the urban structure along the periphery of the site, after the industrial buildings are demolished. These buildings will be mainly used for residential use (buildings A and B)

To build a five storey building, to be used for office space (Building E)

To construct a new, four storey building along the riverfront road, to house office and commercial space,
Along with a bridge building, this will connect with the docklands area and also serve as an interface for the existing and yet to be created public transport network: tram, bus and metro (building G)

The integration in the project of all necessary urban transformations to happen, is already underway. Co-ordination of road layout and infra-structure (water supply; sewerage; storm water drainage; electricity supply; telecommunications, etc,etc.).

To construct a new quality road system, to be integrated in its context
Given that the building of the three towers will free up a large area on the ground, the construction of landscaped open spaces to re-shape this area of the city is also envisaged.


To build under and over ground car parking, in integration with the urban strategy(...).
